Run, Read, Write. Good Weekend

Just finished a 3 mile run in the rain. It was fine, but a little cooler than expected due to the misting rain-42 degrees felt colder. The whole family ran on the greenway near the house, and since we all three had different paces, we ran 20 minutes out and 20 back. I went a bit further than 3 miles, and both Sue and Liz went further. We all met up at the finish as planned. Add the 2 miles I jogged yesterday, and we have a solid 5 mile weekend. I’m starting to get back into a regular running routine for the first time since surgery in May. This time, I’ll be very careful with stretching, form and pain management.

We decided to go to Starbucks for a little reward, and I tried a new healthier alternative to my usual Grande Peppermint White mocha(600 calories!). The chalkboard in Starbucks had three drinks for under 100 calories, so I got the Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte. I could notice that it was nowhere close to being as sweet as my usual, but still tasty, and I saved a ton of calories.

Reading this:

and a few non fiction books too.

Writing- See this post for one. I’m also working on a few creative ideas. Liz and I will spend some time at the local Barnes and Noble where I’ll do some more writing.

In all, a very good weekend.

Fugitive by Phillip Margolin

Finished this today.  It was a nice easy read with a decent plot.  I wouldn’t say that the plot twists were too hard to figure out, but it was a fun book to read.  You could tell the author was an attorney, but he didn’t let the legal stuff get in the way of a good story.

I have to say that I liked this a bit more:

You felt much more intense concern for the characters in Relentless, and there was much more feeling of impending DOOM.  The story also had some interesting Quantum Physics and a little supergenius kid thrown in for good measure.

This morning was our first early morning run. I made sure to get to bed early last night since Sue and I wanted to run this morning. I was able to wake up quickly, bundle up in my cold weather running gear and did an easy, slow 2 miles. Not bad.

Running Every Day

Just a quick update. Ran 4 miles today, which is the longest run since knee surgery last year. Feeling pretty good, and taking it very easy. I was very slow, but don’t want to push anything for at least two or three weeks.

Goal Update

It is about 27 degrees with a wind chill of 19. I just finished a nice slow, cold 2 mile run. So far, the run every day goal is going fine. I did weight training yesterday instead of running, but have exercised every day this year so far.

Writing daily. See this. So far, so good.

Reading Daily. Check. Read from ‘From the Corner of His Eye’ today at lunch and will read more before bed tonight.
